Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I seriously can’t say no to chocolate chip cookies. I made these particular chocolate chip cookies with homemade butter. It’s up for debate whether I did that to use up the homemade butter, or to show off that I could make homemade butter. Either way, they’re fine with regular butter. You can’t actually tell the difference. ANYWAY. Cookies. Who doesn’t love hot, homemade cookies? No one. The answer is no one. Everyone loves them. You’ll want to start by tossing all of your butter and sugar into a bowl. Then add some eggs and some vanilla. Then you beat it together until it’s all creamy. Then slowly add the rest of your ingredients (minus the chocolate chips), about 1/2 cup at a time, and mix it until there are no more flour or sugar (or god forbid, salt) clumps in it. Then you stir in the chocolate chips. Or whatever kind of baking chips you’re using. Then plop it down onto a baking sheet like this. I always make my cookies way too big. Feel free to make them smaller. And then you bake them for awhile, and end by devouring them! Here’s the printable recipe card! A First Post….

Having my own blog is something that I’ve been wanting to do for awhile. Who doesn’t want their own little piece of the internet? Mostly, I’ve wanted a food blog. I love (I mean LOVE) to cook and eat. And I’m always giving other people my recipes and cooking advice. So it seemed like a natural next step to have a food blog. Especially one with some basic advice on it. You know, like, how to make scrambled eggs, how to bake a potato, how exactly to do a water bath for baked, custard-y deserts (like cheesecake). Things like that. I like to teach other people to cook, and I like to share recipes and try new things. I don’t think it should be complicated to make your own food. Recipes should be in plain english, in my not-so-humble opinion, even if they’re for tiramisu-mousse-cheesecake-souffle (side note: not sure if that would be AMAZING or supergross). Normal people with normal kitchens and normal grocery budgets should still be able to cook good food. But there are a lot of food blogs, so I also thought about starting a horse training blog, cataloguing my time with my young gelding, Brooks. There aren’t too many horse blogs running around out there, and it’s definitely something that dominates my everyday life. But then I thought, “what the hell, I’ll just combine them”. So this is my blog, about my life, and all of the things in it. Food, horses, daily life, DIY projects, my job, just whatever! So, who am I? I’m Sam! I live in an apartment in Omaha, I work full time doing online gaming development and...
